Hemingray Crosses

Wooden crosses, the eternal flame or fish made from the original oak stage in the Great Hall which was recently replaced. Specially made by Jonathan Hemingray of Derby, they are priced between £4.00 - £18.00 depending on size and design.  For details click here.  They make excellent souvenirs to remind you of your visit to Central Hall. The stage was the platform in which Dinsdale Young, Edwin Sangster, Derrick Greeves, Maurice Barnett, John Tudor, Peter Graves, Malcolm White & Martin Turner have preached, plus every President of the Wesleyan/Methodist Conference since 1912.  Other famous people who have trodden that stage include Prince Charles, Princess Diana,  the Dalai Lama, Mrs Eleanor Roosevelt, Dame Thora Hird, Mikhail Gorbachev & General de Gaule. If only the stage could talk - what stories could be told!!   Richard Ratcliffe, Archivist
