This year the theme was "Amazing Grace" which was chosen to co-incide with the 200th anniversary of the Aboliton of the Slave Trade. Sandra Lewer, president ot the Women's Network spoke about their work to stop people trafficking. Becks Keer of "Stop the Traffick" was interviewed. "William Wilberforce" played by actor Tony Jasper, made stirring speeches.
Guests included Rev Canon Roger Royle, Cathy Sara of the Archers and Welsh Opera singer, Robert Anderson. Greetings were given by Westminster Lord Mayor, Cllr Jan Prendergast and also by the Lead Chair of the New London District, Rev Ermal Kirby.
Rev Martin Turner, superintendent minister, said, "Daffodil Day was started during the depression in the early 20th Century, with the aim of cheering the wives of unemployed workers. The tradition has continued but the focus has changed. This year helped us to understand how important the abolition of Slavery was" More than two thousand worshippers, mostly women,enjoyed the speeches, drama and music on ths wonderful occasion.
