“Like a Child” was the theme of the 2008 Daffodil Day Rally held at the Methodist Central Hall Westminster. Coaches and public transport bought hundreds from right across the South of England, with some traveling far further from across the country.
The Lord Mayor of Westminster brought her greetings, whilst a variety of music was supplied by the excellent scratch “Daffodil Day Ladies Choir”, soloist Kate Semmens, the superb Trinity Boys Choir from Croydon, and the two Directors of Music from the Hall – Mark Stringer and his new colleague Gerard Brooks.
The Connexion was well represented by the Vice President Ruby Beech, the Women’s Network President Pam Turner, and Cliff College Director of Evangelism Steve Wild. Mime artiste Steve Murray gave two powerful interpretations on the theme, and the congregation loved the involvement of the Family Centre from Central Hall, St Vincent’s, whose staff told of the thrilling story of this venture and whose children and came and sang. The local Network groups led the prayers, and the afternoon was rounded off by the Superintendent Minister, the Revd Martin Turner, who spoke about the difference between being childish and child like, and of the need for us to place a child like faith in the God of love who will never let us down.
