Rev Martin Turner Healing Ministry |
There is a service of Prayer for Healing of BODY, MIND & SPIRIT RELATIONSHIPS with the laying-on of hands 2nd Thursday of every month 12.30pm to 1.15pm in the Chapel 1st Sunday of every month 6.30pm in the Chapel
In the Bible we read about the healing ministry of Jesus and of the early Church. Over the centuries the same concern has been expressed in the ministry of the Church, through the sacrament of Holy Communion, prayers for the sick, and the love and care offered to people by individual Christians. It is Jesus who heals through His Spirit to meet us at our point of need. |

The Healing Ministry of the Church |
This ministry is in no sense offered as an alternative to medical care, medical help should always be sought as God works through the gifts of medical science and the professional medical staff. The churches were at the forefront of founding Hospitals.
The laying-on of hands is one of the ways in which the Church exercises this ministry as mentioned in Scriptures. It is done by ministers or others who believe themselves to be called to this particular ministry and it is supported by regular prayer. Some people may prefer not to be touched on the head or shoulder, if that is the case just let us know when you come for prayer. The person who gives healing words or touch is not the healer, all healing comes from God.
In our individual prayer we will ask that Jesus in the power of the Spirit will meet you at your point of need, and make us channels of His healing love to restore you to health in body, mind and spirit. This reflects the concern of Jesus for the whole person. Recovery from disease is what we hope and pray for; another possibility is that we are strengthened by God to cope with our illness or disability. Beyond our quest for individual healing there is a need for healing in human society, scarred as it is by war, injustice and oppression.
The Church's ministry of healing is therefore one of reconciliation and forgiveness. Confession of sin, and receiving God' Forgiveness are necessary to open the way for God's healing power to flow to bring recovery of wholeness of body, mind and spirit, and for healing the broken relationships between ourselves and God, and between one another.
